Helping Christians live out and share their faith in everyday life.
Are We Relevant? is the digital home of Shábach Ministries—a South African ministry focused on encouraging and equipping Christians to live out their faith and share the hope of Jesus in everyday life.
Founded and led full-time by Nellis and Martie, our ministry is built on a deep love for Scripture, an unwavering passion for truth, and a heart to see God’s name glorified in everything we do.
We believe that faith shouldn’t stay inside church walls. True faith influences how we live, how we treat others, how we serve, how we handle life’s challenges, and how we share the Gospel. Our heart is to see Christians move beyond simply attending church to actively living as devoted followers of Christ every day.
Equipping You for the Journey Through books, practical resources, workshops, evangelism training, and daily encouragement, we seek to help you grow deeper in your relationship with God and build confidence in sharing your faith with others.
Meet Nellis & Martie Nellis and Martie are dedicated full-time to serving the Lord together through Shábach Ministries. Despite having only 35% vision, Nellis continues to create stunning, inspired artwork and author books focused on Christian virtues. Together, they have traveled to numerous countries, sharing God’s truth, encouraging believers, and pointing hearts back to Jesus.
Our desire is simple: To know Christ more deeply, live for Him faithfully and make Him known wherever He has placed us.
Why Are We Relevant?
The question behind this ministry is simple:
Does the way we live show the world that Jesus is relevant?
Our world is changing. People are asking difficult questions.
Many people have become disconnected from the Church and from traditional religious language.
At the same time, people are still searching for meaning, truth, hope and something they can trust.
We believe the answer isn’t to make Christianity more fashionable.
It is to faithfully live and communicate the truth of the Gospel in a way people can understand.
That is why we want to equip ordinary Christians to live their faith authentically and share it naturally.
Frequently Asked Questions
About faith and more
I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth; and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried. He descended into hell; the third day He arose again from the dead. He ascended into heaven, sits at the right hand of God, the Father almighty; from thence He shall come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. Amen.
YES, we provide Bibles for the poorest of the poor.
We believe that every believer should be equipped to carry out God’s work, wherever they are. It is essential that every believer feels confident enough to share their testimony with others. Getting trained to share your testimony is important if you are unsure of yourself. https://arewerelevant.co.za/contact-us/
